Reynoldsville, a borough in Jefferson County in western Pennsylvania, grew up around the railroad, and this c1909 view centers on its station. Depots of this period were busy civic places where passengers boarded, freight and mail changed hands, and local news arrived with each train. The print was registered for copyright under the name Columbia Studio, which suggests a commercial view made for sale, a common practice in the years when picture postcards of towns and their rail lines were popular. It is worth noticing how the building, platform, and street around it show what a small Pennsylvania railroad town looked like just before the automobile began to change those streets.
