Taken on December 29, 1922, this group portrait is titled with the name Carroll Richmond, but the National Photo Company's label for the negative is unverified, so the identification is uncertain. The studio, based in Washington, D.C., made a large body of pictures of people and places across the United States in the early twentieth century. The Library of Congress received these glass negatives as a 1947 gift from Herbert A. French. Note the streaks and blemishes across the plate, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings rather than from the scene itself.
