The caption on this stereo card, "Man hath no part in all this glorious work," is a phrase of reverent praise set above a view of the canyon taken from the Grandview Hotel on the South Rim. Built in the early 1890s near Grandview Point, the hotel drew visitors who reached it by stage over rough roads. Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, sold such cards by the thousands, and through a stereoscope the two slightly offset images give the gorge a depth that a flat print cannot match.
