The building's name, The Buckingham, and its address, 9120 15th Street, are the details that set this plate apart in the National Photo Company collection, though the title is noted as unverified. The company worked in Washington in the early twentieth century and photographed the city's streets, storefronts and buildings in large numbers, so negatives like this one record the capital in the years around 1921 and 1922. As a glass plate, it shows the streaks and coating loss common to aging negatives, which affect its finer detail. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
