A group of Republicans posed at the White House, according to a title the National Photo Company wrote on the negative, though that title has not been verified, so the people and the occasion remain uncertain. The image is dated to about 1920, when Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, was still president, and the National Photo Company was busy recording Washington, D.C. Its glass negatives, most measuring 4 by 5 inches or smaller, often show streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of their original coatings, which can be seen in this example.
