Dogs harnessed to a wheeled cart, with a poster for *Yukon Girl* beside them, set this scene in front of the White House around 1919. The sled-dog and cart motif points to the Klondike and Alaska gold rush of the late 1890s, which still shaped popular imagery of the North two decades later. A street stunt or publicity event like this one would have drawn a crowd along the avenue, and the cart and dogs were likely there to catch the eye of passersby. The photoprint is attributed to Leet Brothers, a Washington studio, though the caption card data is unverified, so the exact occasion and the people pictured remain uncertain.
