This poster sells skilled work rather than combat, promising young men a trade in making and testing heavy artillery through the Army's Ordnance Department. Printed in color in 1919, just after the armistice, it was the second in a numbered series of Ordnance recruiting posters as the United States rebuilt a peacetime force. The record credits Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh and Herbert Macnair, members of the Glasgow Four, a Scottish design circle known for its stylized, linear work, though the attribution is worth checking against other sources.
