Few wartime posters pair the American flag with a relief appeal for Czechoslovaks, which makes this 1918 color design stand out. It was designed by Halsted Frances Adams and cut and printed at the School of Printing and Graphic Arts of the Wentworth Institute in Boston, as Wentworth poster no. 20. Its subjects point to the wartime food supply, when Herbert Hoover's U.S. Food Administration asked Americans to conserve so that food could reach Allied nations and hungry children overseas.
