Its title, *Give or we perish*, presents the $30,000,000 campaign of the American Committee for Relief in the Near East as a matter of survival. The appeal was aimed at famine and displacement in Armenia, Greece, Syria and Persia, regions hit hard during the Ottoman Empire's final years of war and collapse. The Committee on Public Information's Division of Pictorial Publicity issued the poster in 1917, and its use for humanitarian fundraising, alongside recruitment and bond drives, shows how the government's wartime publicity machinery was put to work for relief as well.
