The title promises "representative riders of every class and country," and this chromolithograph advertises the Adam Forepaugh and Sells Brothers circus, which combined two rival traveling shows in the 1890s while keeping Forepaugh's name even after his death in 1890. Buffalo's Courier Lithographing Company printed many large color posters like this one for touring shows of the period. Such sheets were pasted on walls and fences ahead of each stop, using bright color and horses to sell spectacle.
