Few French home-front posters of 1915 address the plight of discharged soldiers as directly as this one, whose title promises protection for the "réformé" of the second category: men sent home as unfit for service but granted no pension. Designed by André Marchand, it is a color lithograph with red lettering, issued in the name of the Crédit Foncier de France, a mortgage and lending institution. Its subjects also include mothers and children, a reminder of the families who depended on these men once they returned home injured or ill.
