Llanfairfechan, a seaside village on the north coast of Wales facing Conwy Bay, is the setting for this parade, though the record does not say what the occasion was. The picture is a photochrom, a color process developed by the Swiss firm Photoglob in the 1890s, which built a color image from several lithographic stones, each one hand-retouched to add tone. The Detroit Publishing Company obtained rights to the process in the United States and sold such views widely, and this example appears in its 1905 catalog as number 10521.
