Two men, Jack Baker and Adrian Myers, are pictured at the White House in this glass negative, though the record does not say who they were or why they were there. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington in the early twentieth century, made and sold views of the city's landmarks to visitors and residents, and glass plates were the standard format of that era. The date is only a range, between 1909 and 1940, and the title comes from unverified information written on the negative or its sleeve. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coating.
