Fritton Decoy, a wildfowl trap in Fritton, Norfolk, appears here in the soft tints of photochrom, a process that printed a photograph in color from several separately inked stone plates. Decoys like this one were ponds ringed with netting-covered channels that narrowed toward a bag at the end, where keepers used decoy ducks and trained dogs to lure wild ducks in and catch them. The Detroit Publishing Company issued this view in its 1905 catalog J of English scenes, and the record dates the original photograph to about 1890 to 1900.
