The Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall is a marble temple built to hold a seated statue of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Henry Bacon and dedicated in 1922. This print is a photoprint made from a drawing rather than a camera photograph, so it shows the monument as an architect or illustrator conceived or recorded it, with the broad steps and colonnade drawn in clean outline. Its caption card lacks a date, and the tracings on it point only to geography and bridges, so its exact age is uncertain. The memorial's position at the western end of the Mall, facing the Reflecting Pool, is worth noticing in any image of it.
