Its German slogan, "Völkerfriede, Freundschaft, Brüderlichkeit! Fort mit allem Hasse!," calls for peace among peoples, friendship, brotherhood, and an end to all hatred, and the winged angels in the design give the appeal a devotional tone. Printed in 1918, it belongs to the months when fighting was ending and Germany faced defeat, revolution, and the armistice of November 1918. Posters that paired political messages with religious imagery were common in the postwar years, as people searched for reconciliation after four years of war. The large color lithograph was once held by the Rehse-Archiv für Zeitgeschichte und Publizistik, a collection of German political print material.
