This lithograph is built around a single claim in its title: that the enemies' furious outcry shows the eighth German war loan to be a fresh triumph measured in billions of marks. Germany sold a series of war loans (Kriegsanleihen) to pay for the war, and posters like this one tried to turn subscribing into a patriotic act by casting foreign opposition as frustrated and bitter. The artist signed only with the monogram "KS," so the maker is recorded by initials alone. The catalog dates the poster to 1917, and its subject, economic mobilization on the home front, was central to Germany's effort in the war.
