The Palais du Trocadéro, the grand hall on the Chaillot hill in Paris, is the venue this 1917 poster advertises for a charity matinee benefiting the widows and orphans of the war. Signed by L. Jonas and printed as a color lithograph, it belongs to the many wartime posters that turned concerts and performances into fundraisers for families left by the fighting. Its catalog subjects, military casualties, grief, and families, show how directly the home front was asked to respond to losses at the front.
