A branch of the Dime Bank stood at the corner of Broadway and Grand Circus Park, one of the central crossings of downtown Detroit, and this 8 x 10 inch glass negative records that corner between about 1910 and 1920. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm that sold city views to tourists and businesses, made the image. Bank buildings of this era were designed to look solid and permanent, which made them a favorite subject for city photographers. The negative came to the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
