This view shows the St. Aubin Avenue branch of the Central Savings Bank in Detroit, a neighborhood office rather than the downtown headquarters. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made commercial views of cities and towns across the United States in the decades around 1900, produced it as a glass dry plate negraphic record of the building. Banks opening branches in outlying neighborhoods like this one were part of the growth of the city's east side in the early 1900s. The 8 by 10 inch glass plate preserves fine detail in the storefront and its signage.
