The brown background of this card sets it apart from the rest of the T207 series, a large group of tobacco-issue cards that the American Tobacco Company produced in several background colors. Each card paired a small portrait of a player with his name and team, and the cards were packed with cigarettes and other tobacco products as collectible inserts. Tobacco cards like these were widely collected by boys in the 1910s, and they now serve as one of the best visual records of early professional players. This example is part of the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection at the Library of Congress.
