Unlike the many cards on this board that show a single player, this one is identified by its design: the brown background that gives the T207 series its nickname. The card was issued by the American Tobacco Company, which packed such cards with its cigarettes to encourage buyers to collect them. Its color halftone reproduction shows how commercial printers of the 1910s combined photographic portraits with hand-applied color. The title was devised by Library of Congress staff, and the card belongs to the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection of baseball cards.
