Taken from the village of Lake George, New York, this view looks down the length of the lake, with the piers and wharves that served the resort town along the shore. Lake George, in the Adirondack region, drew summer visitors by steamboat and rail through the early twentieth century, and docks like these were where travelers boarded the lake boats. The negative belongs to the Detroit Publishing Company's large body of glass plate work, made to document American scenery and resort life before 1915.
