A three-part panorama on glass negatives captures a newly built steel bridge at Glasgow, Missouri, a river town on the Missouri River in Howard County. Dated October 9, 1901, the views show the bridge and the railroad tracks that crossed it, a reminder of how much rail traffic depended on river crossings to link small Midwestern towns to wider markets. The Detroit Publishing Company, known for its broad survey of American towns, rivers and landscapes around the turn of the twentieth century, made the photographs. The three sections are best viewed in order, since they were cataloged out of sequence.
