A bank building and its street frontage fill this 8 by 10 inch glass negative, which the cataloger titled *Peoples State Bank* after the institution it shows. The Detroit Publishing Company operated in Detroit in the early twentieth century and produced many city views, but this plate carries no company number, so its place within the firm's output is uncertain. Street scenes like this one, with banks and storefronts lining the avenue, record the commercial life of a rapidly growing industrial city before 1920. The negative reached the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
