Staged at the Amphitheatre Exposition grounds in California, *Follow the Parade* was billed as a modern musical revue, and this 1936 silkscreen poster was made to advertise it. The Federal theater Project, a unit of the Works Progress Administration, sponsored the show. During the Depression, the project gave work to out-of-work actors, writers and stagehands and staged plays and revues in cities across the country. WPA poster artists often used flat, bold color to catch the eye of passersby, and the title's promise of a parade suits the festive, crowd-pleasing spirit of a revue.
