Few posters in this set promise a "musical smash hit positively last week," and this one, for the Federal theater Project's *Swing Parade* of 1937, advertises a stage revue staged in California. The Federal theater Project was one of the WPA's arts programs, created in 1935 to give unemployed actors, dancers, and musicians paid work during the Depression. Its posters were printed by silkscreen, a method the WPA poster units used to produce bold, inexpensive advertising in quantity. The subject lines point to two 1930s enthusiasms, the swing dance craze and the revue format, both of which drew large audiences to theaters of the period.
