The record dates this view to April 13, 1925, which was Easter Monday, the day after Easter Sunday that year. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial studio active in the early twentieth century, documented many city streets and public events, and Easter Monday brought the traditional egg roll on the White House grounds. The title comes from unverified data the company wrote on the negative, so the scene is a likely reading rather than a confirmed one. The glass plate also shows streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
