This 1939 Washington photograph shows three children of Secretary of War Harry H. Woodring getting an early look at what the Easter Bunny has planned. The caption says the preview took place on April 5, ahead of Easter Sunday, and that the children were expected to roll eggs at the White House the following Monday. Harris & Ewing, the Washington studio whose work fills this collection, photographed many officials and their families, and pictures like this show how political households marked the holiday in the late 1930s. The caption gives the children a different surname from their father's, so their names are worth checking against other sources.
