One of the oldest Catholic parishes in Washington, St. Patrick's is the subject of this 1915 glass negative, which records its Easter observance at the corner of 10th and 7th Streets. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio that photographed the city and its residents for much of the early twentieth century, made the exposure, and its plates form a useful visual record of the capital in that period. Because the negative is only 4 by 6 inches, its fine detail is limited, and faint streaks from deterioration of the original coating are visible. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
