Its subject heading places this poster in Rome, New York, where the 1937 *Federal Varieties* was promoted as a bill of forty performers drawn from stage, radio and screen. The show mixed comedy, novelties and dancing, the kind of revue the Federal theater Project brought to towns well beyond Broadway. The Project was one of the arts programs of the Works Progress Administration, and its posters were often printed by silkscreen, a method that let artists produce bold, flat color on a modest budget.
