Advertising a Federal theater Project revue called *Federal Varieties*, this 1937 poster promises a mix of comedy, novelties, and dancing in New York City. The Federal theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, put unemployed actors, dancers, and stagehands back to work during the Depression, and it staged productions in theaters across the country. The poster was printed by silkscreen, a stencil method that the WPA's poster workshops used to produce bold, flat areas of color at low cost, so the design reflects both the economics and the energy of the program.
