Union Square, at Fourteenth Street and Broadway in Manhattan, is the subject here, shown with its park and the commercial buildings that ring it. By the 1910s the square was a busy crossroads where streetcar lines, shops, and office buildings met, and it was also a long-standing gathering place for political rallies and labor demonstrations.
