A single oversized key dominates this 1915 poster, which asks viewers whether they are helping to turn it. The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee issued it in London during Britain's voluntary enlistment drive, before conscription began in 1916. The subject headings also link it to the war's economic and industrial demands, so the key can be read as a symbol of home-front work in factories and workshops, not only of enlistment. Seargeant Bros., which printed it in London and Abergavenny, produced the color lithograph.
