Rather than showing the trenches, this color chromolithograph brings the war to the family hearth, with a German soldier shown at the door. Printed by Hely's Limited of Dublin, probably in 1915, it asks whether one's home is worth fighting for and urges men to enlist before "the enemy is at your door." The poster reflects the recruiting drives of that year, when British and Irish authorities sought volunteers for the army. Its focus on defending families and homeland was a common appeal in the period's recruiting posters.
