The title, *Vive la France!*, is French for "Long live France," and this 1918 color lithograph uses French flags and military uniforms as its main symbols of national pride. The poster was copyrighted that year by H.G. Klotz Co. of New York and is attributed to Vojtěch Preissig, a Czech artist who worked in the United States during the war and made posters supporting the Allied cause. Its large format, about 97 by 73 centimeters, reflects how wartime appeals were often designed to be seen from a distance. Notice how the flag and uniform imagery serves as shorthand for loyalty, a visual language common in posters from the final years of the war.
