A glass negative bearing the name Guy S. Zepp, the identification comes from label data the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been verified. The company, a Washington, D.C., firm active in the early twentieth century, made large numbers of photographs of people and places, and its glass plates were later given to the Library of Congress. Notice the streaks and small blemishes across the surface, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings rather than from the scene itself.
