Angel Terrace, a sculpted travertine formation at Mammoth Hot Springs in the northern part of Yellowstone, is the subject of this stereograph card, number 84 in the series *Wonders of the Yellowstone as Mirrored in the Camera Views of the National Park*. Published by William I. Marshall in 1897, the card was meant to be viewed through a stereoscope, which fused two side-by-side photographs into a single image with depth, a popular way for Americans to see distant scenery. The catalog's subject headings, "cemeteries" and "tombs," are an unexpected fit for a hot spring terrace, so researchers should treat them as a cataloging quirk rather than a description of the scene.
