This 1918 poster was produced for the Stage Women's War Relief, a New York group that organized actresses and other women of the theater to raise money and support the war effort at home. James Montgomery Flagg, best known for his Uncle Sam "I Want You" recruiting poster, designed it, and it was printed as a color lithograph by the American Lithographic Company. Its subjects point to the broader home-front campaigns of World War I, including war bond and relief drives and the economic role of women during the war. The poster shows how the entertainment world used its public visibility to rally support for the national cause.
