The vessel named Jason, shown under way, is the subject here, and the record dates the glass negative to November 11, 1914, though the title comes from unverified Bain News Service data. Bain was a New York photo agency that sold pictures to newspapers, so its images were made to be reproduced quickly with brief captions. Around 1914, steamboats still carried much of the passenger and freight traffic on American waterways, and the Bain collection preserves many such scenes on glass negatives.
