The caption "I'm not so slow" gives this 1898 sheet its playful edge, promoting a show called *The Turtle*. It was staged at the Manhattan theater at 33rd Street and Broadway under the joint management of Brady and Ziegfeld, with Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. still early in the career that later made him famous for the Ziegfeld Follies. The Strobridge Lithographing Company, which printed the poster in Cincinnati and New York, was among the leading American makers of colorful theatrical posters of the period, and its bold multicolor work was designed to catch the eye of passersby on busy city streets.
