Mercersburg, a small town in south-central Pennsylvania known for its preparatory academy, is the subject of this color lithograph of baseball players. Bristow Adams signed the design on the stone in the lower right, and Andrew B. Graham issued it in Washington, D.C., around 1903. Posters like this one, made by photomechanical methods, let schools show off their athletes to students and supporters, and its bright color makes it a lively record of early twentieth-century school sports.
