A guide peers into the Cave of the Winds, the path on the American side of Niagara Falls that took visitors close to the roaring water at the base of the cliff. Visitors of the period were typically outfitted in oilskin coats and led along wooden walkways into the spray. Underwood & Underwood, the New York firm that issued this card around 1903, sold stereographs like this in large numbers, letting families view the falls in three dimensions from their own parlors.
