A young girl asleep among her dolls gives this etching its title, *Dream-land*, and much of its sentimental appeal. Made around 1883, it reproduces a painting by C.D. Weldon, with the plate etched by S.J. Ferris, a method that let popular domestic scenes reach a wide audience. Pictures of children at rest and play were especially fashionable in the 1880s, when middle-class households often hung engravings and etchings as decoration. The notice "Copyright by C. Klackner" shows that the publisher claimed rights to the image.
