Cadets drawn up in formation for a dress parade at West Point, as the title on this Bain News Service glass negative describes. The Corps of Cadets traditionally spent part of each summer in encampment on the Plain, and the dress parade, a formal review in full dress uniform, was one of the set-piece events of that season. George Grantham Bain's agency supplied news pictures to newspapers in the early twentieth century, which helps explain the interest in scenes of military ceremony. The record gives no date, and the title comes from unverified notes on the negative, so the exact occasion is uncertain.
