Taken looking north, this stereograph shows the white marble mausoleum at Agra in northern India from a vantage point that the card's caption leaves unexplained. Shah Jahan commissioned the tomb in the 1630s for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and it was largely finished by the early 1650s. By about 1906, stereo cards like this one were sold in large numbers so that viewers could see distant landmarks in three dimensions through a hand viewer. The date and details come from the caption card and have not been verified.
