Goodhue, a small village in Pierce County, Minnesota, on the Mississippi River, is the setting here: a view looking north down its main business street around 1908. The subject headings point to a street lined with commercial buildings, horse-drawn carts and wagons, and at least one liquor store, which says something about daily life in a rural river town of that era. Views like this were often made to show a community's commercial life, and the wagons on the roadway offer a sense of how goods and people moved before motor vehicles became common.
