Few sheet music covers of the early 1860s put a bride so plainly at the center, and the title, *The Wedding Waltzes*, shows that the piece was written for the parlor piano, where a wedding was a major family event. The music was composed by William Vincent Wallace, an Irish-born composer and violinist whose piano pieces and operas were popular on both sides of the Atlantic. The color lithograph bears the name of C.A. Evans, and the sheet was published in Boston by Russell & Tolman around 1861, with copyright held by William Hall and Son.
