This 1937 silkscreen poster advertises *High Tor*, a fantasy comedy by Maxwell Anderson about a Hudson Valley ridge that a developer wants to buy. The play's hero, Van Dorn, refuses to sell the mountain, and the story mixes modern real estate with ghosts and legend. The Federal theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, staged the production in California, and the Library of Congress holds the poster in its WPA collection. The federal theater program used posters like this one to bring low-cost, mostly live, productions to working audiences during the Depression, and the bold color blocks reflect the silkscreen method that many WPA artists adopted for their work.
