A small-town high school auditorium in Duquoin, Illinois, is the venue named on this poster, which advertises a staged production of *Leaning on Letty*, billed as a famous comedy success. The Federal theater Project sponsored the show, part of a New Deal program that put unemployed actors, directors and stagehands to work and brought live theater to communities far from big cities. The poster was printed in silkscreen, a technique the WPA poster units used to produce inexpensive, bold, colorful announcements. A date stamp on the back records 1938, two years after the 1936 date given for the design.
